Le Bel Air

A Baroque Cabaret
A Staged Concert

Audio Extracts

This program takes place in a Parisian cabaret – the "Bel Air" – where composer Michel Lambert liked to get together with his fellow poet and musician friends. There he met his first wife and the love of his life... respectively the eldest and the youngest daughters of the cabaret's proprietor, Michel Dupuis. A colorful panorama of French song in the middle of the 17th century, "Le Bel Air" sketches the portrait of this endearing musician who was a central figure in the artistic life of the "Grand Siècle."
